Hi!\u00a0 I like to talk about music.\u00a0 Or write about it, more precisely.\u00a0 Communicate with people about it.\u00a0 Whatever.\u00a0 Sometimes I come across a new album and after a few spins on the record player, I want to tell everybody\u00a0how great it is,\u00a0so I set up this place to be able to do that.\u00a0 It’s usually something along the stoner\/doom spectrum, hence the name of the site, but I dig on rock & roll in its many incarnations.\u00a0 I used to write reviews for some online review sites, but I got fed up with it because 1) deadlines suck the joy out of writing, 2) I was uncomfortable professing to be an expert who could assign objective ratings to something so subjective, and 3) there’s a lot of bad music out there, and I’d had my fill of writing about things I didn’t enjoy.\u00a0 I want to tell people about the things I do like, and share music with them that means something to me instead of giving the hater side of me an excuse to rage.<\/p>\n
I’m not trying to break new bands here or be the first on the scene.\u00a0 “New” to me just means something I haven’t heard or given much attention to before.\u00a0 It might be a legitimate new release, but it’s just as likely to be something from 40 years ago that someone recently turned me on to.\u00a0 Either way it’s something I think my friends would enjoy and I want to spread the word about it.<\/p>\n
I also like talking about talking about music. \u00a0I mean, I\u00a0consume a lot of other media\u00a0by and about musicians, and I want to share those things too- as well as talk about the experience of being both a musician and a fan, and how those parts of my identity influence the way I listen to music.<\/p>\n
